UNO Women’s CWS Champions - 50th Anniversary Logo
One of the greatest honors I’ve had during my time at UNO was to design the 50th Anniversary logo for the 1975 Women’s College World Series Championship team. The project took two months from ideation to completion, March to April of 2025, I worked in close collaboration with UNO Equipment Manager and Associate Athletic Director Bill Sanders to ensure ideal coloration and include pertinent design elements. The logo not only honors the team as a whole, but pays special tribute to Connie Claussen, the renowned coach, athletic director, and foremost champion of UNO Women’s sports. The logo features Claussen’s silhouette on the shoulders of her team, one of the most iconic photos in Mavericks Athletics history. Below it is a series of raised hands, representing the courageous young women who volunteered to play any sport Claussen asked them to, playing combinations of Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball, and some played all three. The gold standard was set in 1975 and their golden anniversary logo needed to live up to what these women accomplished, and seeing them standing proudly in front of it was better than I could have imagined.
